After being separated and having their interactions limited for weeks, Coco and Puff are finally catching up on all the cuddles. They're now accepting applications from families interested in a pair adoption. (Pair adoptions only at this stage.) They’ll be ready the first week of June. I do adopt out of state, as long as the family can travel to Houston, TX, to meet and adopt them in person.
If you don’t know their story, please check out earlier videos—they were separated on and off, but they’re now back together 24/7 and thriving.
Coco-Loco
Wild thing! She loves to play, and there’s never a dull moment when she’s active. She has more energy than Puff and sometimes annoys him while he’s trying to sleep—he meows at her, then goes back to sleep as she continues to nibble on him.
She’s more reserved around new individuals—it took her longer to warm up to Phoebe and GB. She’s also a serious burrower. When she was first released from the pen, I had to keep an AirTag on her because she would crawl under the couches. She always comes out when I call, but I think those spaces make her feel safe. If startled, she’ll dash under the couch—but she always comes right back out when called.
Puffinator
Calmer than Coco, but still very playful. He took to Phoebe and GB right away. He’s more confident than Coco and often helps her come out of her shell.
They’re both sweet, affectionate, and so much fun to be around.
So far, they’ve done great with car rides, vet visits, and nail trims.
All proceeds will be used to save more kittens.
Border Kitty Rescue Division was created under Border Collie Rescue & Rehab-501 (c)(3) to save orphaned kittens in Texas. Our mission is to rescue kittens, provide them with medical care and, once stable, provide basic training, enrichment and socialization. All our kittens will be raised by Border Collies, Aussies and/or fabulous mixes, so the kittens will be comfortable with dogs in general. Once you adopt from us, you will be part of our BCRRT family. We believe in a lifetime commitment and friendship. Our volunteers will stay in touch with all adopters so that we can continue supporting and sharing updates.
We rescue orphaned kittens that are too young to be in a shelter and ones that are sick. We treat medical issues in our foster home with our vet's guidance. We also socialize them, provide enrichment, and basic training. All our available kittens are dewormed, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, FELV/FIV tested, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our kittens must be at least 4lbs to be spayed/neutered. We don't require pair adoptions, unless the kittens are bonded. However, we prioritize applicants interested in multiple kittens. In some cases, we do out-of-state adoption. We ask all adopters to come to their foster home to meet, greet, and pick up the kittens where the kittens are more comfortable. To avoid the added stress, we do not ship our kittens. Applications are not considered on a first come first basis, but based on match.
Border Kitty Rescue relies on donations and volunteers to save kittens. Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of care we provide for each kitten. As a non-profit/volunteer based organization, we are able to save more kittens and provide quality care thanks to the generous support from our community!
