Grits is a playful, fun, affectionate flame point boy. He loves other kitties, people and cat friendly dog. He can be shy at first, but it doesn't take long to warm up to new people. He has a big purr motor on him. He would do well in an active home. He and Waffles are not a bonded pair, but they are the closest and we'd love him to be adopted with Waffles if possible. Grits comes when called and he's comfortable with his nails being trimmed. Watch more videos to learn about him and Waffles. https://www.facebook.com/bordernerd/
Waffles and Grits are about the same age and have a very similar play style. If you're looking for a pair of kittens that love to play hard, sleep harder, and purr loudly when you hold them, this pair might be perfect for you! They have lots of energy and love to wrestle together, but they also enjoy long naps on their cat tree. Grits loves dogs, and Waffles is getting comfortable with our two pups. They often sleep together, but I also find each one cuddling with GB, my adult cat. If you already have a friendly cat, they should integrate well with a proper introduction. They’re comfortable with having their nails trimmed and are recall trained (they come when called). We are located in Houston, TX, but we do consider out-of-state adoptions. Shrimp is an incredibly sweet kitten. He loves people, gets along great with other cats, and is friendly with dogs. He’s curious, playful, and affectionate, and he comes with the loudest purr motor that will calm you when you’re stressed. He loves sitting on laps but can also relax on his own.
He came to me with two boys — Blue and Grits. Grits used to boss Shrimp around when they were little, so I found Waffles, hoping he’d be a better playmate for Grits. I’m comfortable adopting Shrimp as a solo kitty, as long as he gets plenty of attention from his family and they already have a friendly cat or kitten.

Border Kitty Rescue Division was created under Border Collie Rescue & Rehab-501 (c)(3) to save orphaned kittens in Texas. Our mission is to rescue kittens, provide them with medical care and, once stable, provide basic training, enrichment and socialization. All our kittens will be raised by Border Collies, Aussies and/or fabulous mixes, so the kittens will be comfortable with dogs in general. Once you adopt from us, you will be part of our BCRRT family. We believe in a lifetime commitment and friendship. Our volunteers will stay in touch with all adopters so that we can continue supporting and sharing updates.
We rescue orphaned kittens that are too young to be in a shelter and ones that are sick. We treat medical issues in our foster home with our vet's guidance. We also socialize them, provide enrichment, and basic training. All our available kittens are dewormed, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, FELV/FIV tested, and microchipped prior to adoption. Our kittens must be at least 4lbs to be spayed/neutered. We don't require pair adoptions, unless the kittens are bonded. However, we prioritize applicants interested in multiple kittens. In some cases, we do out-of-state adoption. We ask all adopters to come to their foster home to meet, greet, and pick up the kittens where the kittens are more comfortable. To avoid the added stress, we do not ship our kittens. Applications are not considered on a first come first basis, but based on match.
Border Kitty Rescue relies on donations and volunteers to save kittens. Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of care we provide for each kitten. As a non-profit/volunteer based organization, we are able to save more kittens and provide quality care thanks to the generous support from our community!
